| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to recognize milestones in the |
| 4 |
| lives of the citizens of Illinois; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Erma Schanafelt is celebrating her 95th birthday; |
| 6 |
| she was born on November 10, 1910 in Marion County, Illinois; |
| 7 |
| and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Erma was married to Keith Schanafelt and had 3 |
| 9 |
| children, Ted, Kay, and Dixie; she also has 8 grandchildren, 12 |
| 10 |
| great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; most of |
| 11 |
| her life she was a housewife, but she also owned and operated a |
| 12 |
| Merle Norman Cosmetics studio in Salem, Illinois; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Erma has always been active in Democrat politics; |
| 14 |
| her husband was a road commissioner and she worked on his |
| 15 |
| elections; she was Marion County Chairwoman for several years |
| 16 |
| and is a precinct committeewoman in Marion county, a position |
| 17 |
| for which she is seeking re-election; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Erma still drives a car and visits the sick and |
| 19 |
| cooks for the infirmed; each year, she participates in the |
| 20 |
| Little Egypt Festival parade by riding in the caravan and |
| 21 |
| passing out candy to the children; therefore, be it
|
| 22 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 23 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 24 |
| we wish Erma Schanafelt a happy 95th birthday; and be it |
| 25 |
| further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 27 |
| presented to Erma Schanafelt as an expression of our respect |
| 28 |
| and esteem.
