| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, Leland Lewis, Executive Director of the DuPage |
| 3 |
| County Health Department, is retiring June 2, 2006; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Lewis was selected to serve as Executive |
| 5 |
| Director on November 15, 1999; during his tenure, some of his |
| 6 |
| major accomplishments have been to serve as Incident Commander, |
| 7 |
| TOPOFF II and International bioterrorism exercise, to serve as |
| 8 |
| a founding member of the Northern Illinois Public Health |
| 9 |
| Consortium, to oversee the Monkey Pox outbreak in DuPage |
| 10 |
| County, and to develop the first plan for distribution of the |
| 11 |
| Strategic Stockpile in DuPage County; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, He received his Bachelor of Science degree in |
| 13 |
| Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla and |
| 14 |
| his Master of Business Administration degree from Northern |
| 15 |
| Illinois University; he is a registered professional engineer; |
| 16 |
| and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, He served in the U.S. Army, Republic of Korea and |
| 18 |
| Georgia, as a first lieutenant; in the 1980s, he was an officer |
| 19 |
| in the Oak Brook Association of Commerce & Industry; in the |
| 20 |
| 1990s, he served on the Glen Ellyn Zoning Board of Appeals and |
| 21 |
| the Glenbard District 87 High School Enrollment Advisory |
| 22 |
| Committee; and
|
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, From 1970 to 1993, his work in the private sector |
| 24 |
| involved engineering and managing business operations; in May |
| 25 |
| of 1994, he joined the DuPage County Health Department as the |
| 26 |
| Director of Business Operations; therefore, be it
|
| 27 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 28 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 29 |
| we congratulate Leland Lewis on his retirement, we thank him |
| 30 |
| for his dedicated service with the DuPage County Health |
