| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Character Matters in Lake County is a community |
| 3 |
| organization dedicated to encouraging schools, businesses, and |
| 4 |
| communities throughout Lake County to promote common ethical |
| 5 |
| values, including caring, respect, fairness, honesty, |
| 6 |
| trustworthiness, citizenship, and responsibility; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Character Matters in Lake County is engaged in |
| 8 |
| educational and promotional activities to weave good character |
| 9 |
| into the fabric of everyday life throughout Lake County; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Character Matters in Lake County was founded in |
| 11 |
| 1999 by the College of Lake County, the Lake County Regional |
| 12 |
| Office of Education, and a task force of over 30 community |
| 13 |
| organizations; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Character Matters in Lake County has fostered |
| 15 |
| cooperation among schools, communities, and businesses in |
| 16 |
| order to surround young people with positive values and role |
| 17 |
| models; the program has had a positive, lasting impact on |
| 18 |
| children; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Students selected for the Excellence in Character |
| 20 |
| award will be honored on May 4, 2006, at a county-wide |
| 21 |
| ceremony; therefore, be it
|
| 22 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 23 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 24 |
| the month of May shall be recognized as Character Matters month |
| 25 |
| throughout the State of Illinois; and be it further
|
| 26 |
| RESOLVED, That we congratulate the members of Character |
| 27 |
| Matters in Lake County for their dedication to improving the |
| 28 |
| quality of life in Lake County; and be it further
