| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, In 2006, the Lansing Public Library celebrates 70 |
| 3 |
| years of operation; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, The Lansing Library started in an office above the |
| 5 |
| old Lansing Bank in the village's downtown area; by 1938, the |
| 6 |
| library had moved to the old pump house across from the Village |
| 7 |
| Hall; the current building at 2750 Indiana Avenue has been home |
| 8 |
| to the library since 1976; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, To commemorate the library's 70 years, the library |
| 10 |
| will hold 70 special events throughout the year; the |
| 11 |
| celebration began with the Friends of Lansing Library book |
| 12 |
| sale; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, There will be programs for all ages and existing |
| 14 |
| programs will be incorporated into the anniversary; there will |
| 15 |
| be about five celebratory events each month, including |
| 16 |
| historical scrapbooks and posters as well as trivia questions; |
| 17 |
| therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 19 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 20 |
| we recognize the Lansing Public Library on the occasion of its |
| 21 |
| 70th anniversary; and be it further
|
| 22 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 23 |
| presented to the Lansing Public Library as an expression of our |
| 24 |
| esteem.
