| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to |
| 4 |
| the family and friends of Lander Crumpton, Jr., who passed away |
| 5 |
| on November 21, 2005; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Crumpton was born on July 20, 1927, in Pine |
| 7 |
| Bluff, Arkansas, to Lander Crumpton, Sr., and Latisha Crumpton; |
| 8 |
| on September 28, 1945, he wedded Symathew Crater and together |
| 9 |
| they had 10 children; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, They moved to Chicago in 1951, where Mr. Crumpton |
| 11 |
| worked for the steel mills until he retired; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, The Crumptons were one of the first families to |
| 13 |
| move into Robert Taylor Homes when it was built by the Chicago |
| 14 |
| Housing Authority as an answer to Chicago's housing shortage; |
| 15 |
| in 1971, Mr. Crumpton bought a house in Roseland Community, |
| 16 |
| where he became an active member in his community; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Crumpton participated in neighborhood watch |
| 18 |
| groups and in the Chicago's CAPS program; he loved children and |
| 19 |
| would spend many days watching the kids in the neighborhood |
| 20 |
| making sure they were safe; and |
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, He is preceded in death by his wife and his |
| 22 |
| parents; and
|
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Lander Crumpton, Jr. will be felt |
| 24 |
| by all who knew and loved him, especially his sister, Pearl |
| 25 |
| Bassett; his sons, Thomas, Robert, Carl, Corneal, Jerome, |
| 26 |
| William, Billy, Pete, Randy, and Clarence; his daughter, Betty; |
| 27 |
| his very special friend, Mildred Wynn; his 6 grandchildren; his |
| 28 |
| 9 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving family members and |
| 29 |
| friends; therefore, be it
