HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives offer our sincere congratulations to Larry 
4
Fricke, who received the Elmhurst Jaycees' 2006 Distinguished 
5
Service Award; and
 

6
    WHEREAS, Larry has worked as a full-time volunteer for 
7
Elmhurst College for over 20 years, donating roughly 40,000 
8
hours; and
 

9
    WHEREAS, He has helped the college through four major 
10
fundraising campaigns, which have all met or exceeded their 
11
goals; and
 

12
    WHEREAS, Larry's efforts have directly led to more than $2 
13
million in donations to the college; and
 

14
    WHEREAS, Many prominent business leaders introduced by 
15
Larry to Elmhurst College have gone on to teach classes, mentor 
16
students, and even become members of the College's Board of 
17
Trustees; and
 

18
    WHEREAS, The entire college has benefited from Larry's 
19
support and dedication as he has worked on behalf of many areas 
20
including athletics, fundraising, jazz band, and numerous 
21
academic endeavors; and
 

22
    WHEREAS, Larry is the driving force behind "Elmhurst: 
23
College and Community", a group of 100 area residents who 
24
participate in campus events for the betterment of both the 
25
college and the community; and
 

26
    WHEREAS, He was recognized by the Oak Brook Area 
27
Association of Commerce and Industry as their 1996 Golden Acorn 
28
Award winner; and

    WHEREAS, Elmhurst College awarded Larry in 1996 with their 
2
highest award for service to the institution with the Elmhurst 
3
Founders Medal; and
 

4
    WHEREAS, Larry is an active parishioner of St. Peter's 
5
United Church of Christ, where he serves as an usher and a 
6
members of the men's club; and
 

7
    WHEREAS, He also advocates and volunteers for 
8
organizations in the Elmhurst community, including the 
9
Elmhurst Symphony, Elmhurst Art Museum, and the Elmhurst Public 
10
Library; and
 

11
    WHEREAS, Larry's dedication to Elmhurst College and the 
12
entire City of Elmhurst is a source of inspiration to the 
13
entire community and State; therefore, be it
 

14
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
15
NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, and 
16
that we do hereby offer our congratulations to Larry Fricke; 
17
and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
19
presented to Larry Fricke.
