| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, It is the privilege of this Body to recognize |
| 3 |
| milestone events in the history of organizations in this State; |
| 4 |
| and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, The DuPage County chapter of the NAACP is |
| 6 |
| celebrating its 50th anniversary; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, The history of the NAACP is one of blood sweat and |
| 8 |
| tears; from bold investigations of mob brutality, protests of |
| 9 |
| mass murders, segregation and discrimination to testimony |
| 10 |
| before congressional committees on the vicious tactics used to |
| 11 |
| bar African Americans from the ballot box, it has been the |
| 12 |
| talent and tenacity of NAACP members that saved lives and |
| 13 |
| changed many negative aspects of American society; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, From the ballot box to the classroom, the |
| 15 |
| dedicated workers, organizers, and leaders who forged this |
| 16 |
| great organization and maintain its status as a champion of |
| 17 |
| social justice fought long and hard to ensure that the voices |
| 18 |
| of African Americans would be heard; therefore, be it
|
| 19 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 20 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 21 |
| we congratulate the DuPage County chapter of the NAACP on the |
| 22 |
| occasion of its 50th anniversary, and we commend the |
| 23 |
| organization for its work on behalf of minorities; and be it |
| 24 |
| further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 26 |
| presented to the DuPage County chapter of the NAACP as an |
| 27 |
| expression of our esteem.
