HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are honored to recognize organizations that 
4
provide exemplary service to the citizens of this State; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, The Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove 
6
Village is part of the national Character Counts! Coalition; 
7
and

 
8
    WHEREAS, The Coalition of Elk Grove is made up of 45 
9
members; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, The members are all community-based 
11
organizations, such as local governments and including 
12
villages and townships, elementary and high school districts, 
13
churches of all denominations, local businesses, park 
14
districts, libraries, senior centers, health facilities, 
15
service organizations, PTOs, police departments, and social 
16
service agencies; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, The Coalition has sponsored or taken part in 
18
ethics workshops, foot rallies, senior Olympics, golf outings, 
19
children's reading events, business breakfasts, plays, peace 
20
pole placements, memorial celebrations, peanut days, and 
21
relays for life; and

 
22
    WHEREAS, The Coalition has produced a DVD on ethics in the 
23
workplace and many more activities too numerous to mention; and

 
24
    WHEREAS, The Coalition has raised funds for the Elk Grove 
25
Village community's statue that salutes "Our Fallen Soldiers" 
26
from the Village; and

 
27
    WHEREAS, The Coalition has sponsored the Youth Community 
28
Celebration in Elk Grove Village and has sent representatives

to Character Counts! "Training the Trainers" from the Elk Grove 
2
Park District and Police Department; and

 
3
    WHEREAS, The Coalition has sponsored and promoted 
4
Operation American Hero at Elk Grove High School, collecting 
5
items for our troops in Iraq; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, The Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove 
7
Village has provided training for youth sports coaches; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, The Coalition has established a web site enabling 
9
residents to follow the progress of this organization; 
10
therefore, be it

 
11
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12
NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
13
we recognize the accomplishments of the members of the 
14
Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove Village and urge 
15
them to continue with their mission; and be it further

 
16
    RESOLVED, That a  suitable copy of this resolution be 
17
presented to the Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove 
18
Village.
