| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, At the present time, expectant mothers have few |
| 3 |
| options to park their vehicles in parking lot spaces other than |
| 4 |
| those reserved for the general public; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, A pregnant woman may obtain a handicapped parking |
| 6 |
| permit only if she has a walking disability caused by the |
| 7 |
| pregnancy and certified by a physician; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Some parking lot owners have added expectant |
| 9 |
| mother parking spaces for the convenience of their customers; |
| 10 |
| and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, These parking spaces are voluntary and are not |
| 12 |
| subject to the same standards as handicapped parking spaces; |
| 13 |
| therefore, be it
|
| 14 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 15 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 16 |
| we urge the Secretary of State to provide special permits that |
| 17 |
| can be displayed in cars indicating that the driver is an |
| 18 |
| expectant mother or the parent of a child 2 years of age or |
| 19 |
| younger; and be it further
|
| 20 |
| RESOLVED, That we urge owners, operators, and overseers of |
| 21 |
| parking lots to designate special spaces for expectant mothers |
| 22 |
| and parents of children 2 years of age or younger; and be it |
| 23 |
| further
|
| 24 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 25 |
| presented to the Secretary of State.
