| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives were |
| 3 |
| deeply saddened to learn of the death of Katie Gray of Chicago |
| 4 |
| on January 2, 2006; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Katie Gray was born July 11, 1927 in Lymon, |
| 6 |
| Mississippi, to Austin and Annie Mae Martin; she was the oldest |
| 7 |
| daughter born in that union; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Katie Gray attended Prentis Normal and Industrial |
| 9 |
| Institute; and |
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Katie Gray was joined in holy matrimony to Percy |
| 11 |
| Gray on September 10, 1949; to this union four children were |
| 12 |
| born; Mr. Gray preceded her in death on May 27, 2003; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Katie Gray relocated to Chicago with her husband |
| 14 |
| and oldest daughter in the early fifties; she worked at Curtiss |
| 15 |
| Candy Company (now Nestle's) from where she retired in 1992; |
| 16 |
| and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Katie Gray leaves to cherish her memory four |
| 18 |
| brothers, O.M. Martin,
Robert Martin, Ethel Martin, and Howard |
| 19 |
| Martin; three sisters, Lillian (L.C.) Price, Melvina (Lester) |
| 20 |
| Simon, and Iraida Clark; four children, Linda Bailey, Darryl |
| 21 |
| (Annette), Aundrea Thomas (Lamount), and Ronald; seven |
| 22 |
| grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, who all affectionately |
| 23 |
| called her "Fran Mother"; nieces; nephews; and a host of other |
| 24 |
| relatives and friends; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 26 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 27 |
| we mourn the death of Katie Gray and extend our sincerest |
| 28 |
| condolences to her family and friends; and be it further
