| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Pretzel City USA was founded in 1998 with the |
| 3 |
| express mission to support its city, Freeport; the organization |
| 4 |
| was influential in the Freeport City Council's decision to |
| 5 |
| adopt "Pretzel City U.S.A." as the city's official nickname; |
| 6 |
| and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Pretzel City USA capitalized on Freeport's rich |
| 8 |
| history and relationship with the pretzel; it brought attention |
| 9 |
| and pride to Freeport with its sponsorship of the Pretzel |
| 10 |
| Festival, featured on the nationally and internationally |
| 11 |
| watched Food Network; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Ken Bohnsack helped to institute Quarry Day, a |
| 13 |
| unique family fun day, which helps young people become |
| 14 |
| acquainted with heavy equipment and other construction |
| 15 |
| processes and has always served as the major fundraiser for |
| 16 |
| Pretzel City USA; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Pretzel City USA encourages reading in the lower |
| 18 |
| grades; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Bohnsack has worked tirelessly to support |
| 20 |
| Quarry Day and Pretzel City USA; therefore, be it
|
| 21 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 22 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 23 |
| we recognize Ken Bohnsack, the chairman and originator of |
| 24 |
| Quarry Day, for his constant support and promotion of Freeport |
| 25 |
| and Pretzel City USA; and be it further
|
| 26 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 27 |
| presented to Mr. Bohnsack as an expression of our esteem.
