| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Students at St. Patrick School in Decatur recently |
| 3 |
| collected 25,000 pounds of food for the WSOY Community Food |
| 4 |
| Drive in Decatur; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, The students built pyramids from the thousands of |
| 6 |
| cans they brought in as a reminder of the food drive and the |
| 7 |
| food pyramid guidelines for healthy eating; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Students also had the incentive of a non-uniform |
| 9 |
| day if they met their goal of collecting 10,000 pounds of food; |
| 10 |
| in addition to the competition, students enjoyed knowing that |
| 11 |
| they were able to help others through their food collection; |
| 12 |
| and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, They placed first out of 51 schools that |
| 14 |
| participated in the drive and received a $2,500 prize for their |
| 15 |
| efforts; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, All of the food donated to the WSOY Community Food |
| 17 |
| Drive went to food pantries sponsored by the Salvation Army and |
| 18 |
| Catholic Charities; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Margaret Wood and her eighth grade class |
| 20 |
| brought in the most pounds of food; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, The principal of St. Patrick School is Terri Voss; |
| 22 |
| therefore, be it
|
| 23 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 24 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 25 |
| we recognize the hard work and generosity of the students, |
| 26 |
| faculty, and staff of St. Patrick School; and be it further
|
| 27 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
