| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives wish to express their sincere condolences to |
| 4 |
| the family and friends of Wendell D. Lambert of Harrisburg, who |
| 5 |
| passed away on December 19, 2005; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Wendell Lambert was born on January 6, 1942 in |
| 7 |
| Harrisburg to the late Jimmie Lambert and Ludean (Hibbs) |
| 8 |
| Lambert, who survives; on September 11, 1961, he married the |
| 9 |
| former Sue Donovan; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Wendell Lambert was a 1960 graduate of Harrisburg |
| 11 |
| Township High School; he attended Southern Illinois University |
| 12 |
| and graduated from the Indiana School of Mortuary Science; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Lambert began his mortuary career at funeral |
| 14 |
| homes in Robinson and Grayville, before returning to Harrisburg |
| 15 |
| to work at Gibbons Funeral Home; he was later hired by Bert and |
| 16 |
| Bob Gaskins to work at Gaskins Funeral Home, where he worked |
| 17 |
| for over 26 years; and he founded Lambert Family Funeral Home |
| 18 |
| in Harrisburg; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, In 1972, at the age of 30, he was elected Saline |
| 20 |
| County Coroner, a position he held for 24 years, being |
| 21 |
| re-elected 5 times; and
|
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, Wendell Lambert was also active in his community; |
| 23 |
| he had been a Boy Scout leader, a longtime Republican precinct |
| 24 |
| committeeman, an adjunct professor in the mortuary science |
| 25 |
| department at Southern Illinois University, a past president of |
| 26 |
| the Illinois Coroner's Association, a member of the Illinois |
| 27 |
| Funeral Director's Association, and a member of the National |
| 28 |
| Funeral Director's Association; he was also a member of St. |
| 29 |
| Mary Catholic Church in Harrisburg; and
