| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of John Lee |
| 4 |
| "Johnny" Armistead on January 27, 2006; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born to Lee and Louise Armistead on April |
| 6 |
| 3, 1942, in Kilmichael, Mississippi; he was the youngest child |
| 7 |
| of two siblings, and his older brother Leon Armistead (Janice) |
| 8 |
| preceded him in death; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Armistead moved to Chicago with his parents |
| 10 |
| when he very young; he joined Zion Hill Baptist Church, where |
| 11 |
| he was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age; in 2005 he |
| 12 |
| joined Truth and Deliverance International Ministries under |
| 13 |
| the leadership of Apostle John T. Abercrombie; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, He attended Farragut High School and went on to |
| 15 |
| Triton College, where he received his certificate; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, When Mr. Armistead was eighteen, he met Aubretta |
| 17 |
| Duff, and they later united in holy matrimony; she was the love |
| 18 |
| of his life, and they were inseparable until his death; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, He worked for Brach's Candy Company for 31 years |
| 20 |
| until his retirement in 2004; while working he received many |
| 21 |
| awards; he was a motivational speaker, supervisor, and member |
| 22 |
| of the safety team; and
|
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, He was the ultimate entertainer with wife |
| 24 |
| Aubretta, and he planned many events involving family and |
| 25 |
| friends; he was also a special part of the 4600 West Adams |
| 26 |
| block club party; each year he looked forward to getting old |
| 27 |
| school and new school together on those special Saturdays; |
| 28 |
| everyone was invited (whether you lived on the block or not), |
| 29 |
| and he barbecued non-stop to assure everyone did not go without |

| eating; and
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Armistead loved his children and |
| 3 |
| grandchildren; during the summer, he spent many days and |
| 4 |
| evenings sitting on his porch on West Adams, watching over his |
| 5 |
| children, and later, grandchildren; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of John Lee "Johnny" Armistead has |
| 7 |
| been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Aubretta; his |
| 8 |
| children, Kimberly, Felicia (Joe), April, Lapricka (Chris), |
| 9 |
| John Jr., Christopher, Heather, and Ebony; his grandchildren, |
| 10 |
| Ericka, Eric, Andrea, Tia, Tiwan, Diamond, Jalen, Dakota, |
| 11 |
| Darious, Jamari, Jatavious, Kejohnae, Kaylen, Jeremy, |
| 12 |
| Adrienne, Sean, and Jahiem; his godsisters, Lillian and Lily |
| 13 |
| Ruth; his aunts, Addie and Ella (Edward); his uncle, James |
| 14 |
| (Lenora); and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends |
| 15 |
| who loved him dearly; therefore, be it
|
| 16 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 17 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 18 |
| we mourn the passing of John Lee "Johnny" Armistead, and we |
| 19 |
| extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and all who |
| 20 |
| knew and loved him; and be it further
|
| 21 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 22 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our sincerest |
| 23 |
| condolences.
