| WHEREAS, Gary Dyar has been named the 73rd Annual AMBUCS |
| 3 |
| First Citizen in honor of his volunteer work; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Dyar is the owner of Shick Office Supply of |
| 5 |
| Danville, a company that has been in business since 1946; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The business has sponsored the children's area at |
| 7 |
| the Festival of Trees since it began, including furnishing |
| 8 |
| supplies for the craft projects; Mr. Dyar and his staff build |
| 9 |
| the various shops for the festival, such as the Gingerbread |
| 10 |
| Bakery and Raffle House; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Dyar and his wife, Debora, are the parents of |
| 12 |
| Ryan and Kimberly; as parents of students, they are actively |
| 13 |
| involved in the music program for District 118, where their |
| 14 |
| children participate in show choirs; he often leads the |
| 15 |
| construction of musical sets and stores and transports the sets |
| 16 |
| when necessary; he is also a fixture at athletic events and |
| 17 |
| often works the concession stand; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, AMBUCS is a national service organization |
| 19 |
| dedicated to creating independence and opportunities for |
| 20 |
| people with disabilities, especially children; since 1932, the |
| 21 |
| Danville chapter of AMBUCS has presented a First Citizen Award |
| 22 |
| for volunteer service to the community; peers recommend |
| 23 |
| candidates through letters of nomination; and
|
| 24 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Dyar is the first AMBUCS member to receive |
| 25 |
| First Citizen status since 1984; he has been an AMBUCS member |
| 26 |
| since 1976 and served as the club's president in 1982 and 1983; |
| 27 |
| he emcees a major fundraiser for the group, helps with the |
| 28 |
| annual home show, and helped organize the children's summer |
| 29 |
| camp; therefore, be it
