| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Centralia Fire Chief Bill Thouvenin is retiring on |
| 3 |
| June 16, 2006, after 29 years with the department; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, He became fire chief almost four years ago; he |
| 5 |
| previously served as fire marshal and as a firefighter with the |
| 6 |
| department; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, During his tenure with the Centralia Fire |
| 8 |
| Department, Chief Thouvenin has seen the duties of the |
| 9 |
| Department expand beyond fighting fires; EMS (emergency |
| 10 |
| medical services), which was relatively new when he joined the |
| 11 |
| department, now represents about 60 percent of the department's |
| 12 |
| work; the department now deals with hazardous materials and has |
| 13 |
| also trained to deal with terrorism and counter-terrorism, drug |
| 14 |
| labs, and street gangs; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Upon his retirement, he plans to take two or three |
| 16 |
| months and spend some time with his family, including camping, |
| 17 |
| horseback riding, and fishing with his three children; he has |
| 18 |
| also planned a mission trip with his youngest son to Louisiana |
| 19 |
| in July to help with rebuilding projects; therefore, be it
|
| 20 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 21 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 22 |
| we congratulate Centralia Fire Chief Bill Thouvenin on the |
| 23 |
| occasion of his retirement after 29 years with the department; |
| 24 |
| and be it further
|

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 26 |
| presented to Chief Thouvenin as an expression of our esteem and |
| 27 |
| with best wishes for a relaxing retirement.
