| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The City of Rockford signed preliminary |
| 3 |
| agreements with Ferentino, Italy, in 2005 to create Rockford's |
| 4 |
| first Italian Sister City; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, A delegation of seven governmental officials from |
| 6 |
| Ferentino will visit Rockford from May 10, 2006, to May 20, |
| 7 |
| 2006; the official signing of the Sister City agreement will be |
| 8 |
| on May 15, 2006, at the Rockford City Council meeting; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The sister city relationship will allow for |
| 10 |
| programs and events to promote the Italian and American |
| 11 |
| cultures through youth and adult exchanges, education and |
| 12 |
| cultural programs, and tourism and business opportunities; |
| 13 |
| therefore, be it
|
| 14 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 15 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 16 |
| we recognize the Sister City relationship between Rockford and |
| 17 |
| Ferentino, Italy, and we welcome the delegation from Ferentino, |
| 18 |
| Italy, to our great State; and be it further
|
| 19 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 20 |
| presented to the Rockford City Council and the Ferentino, |
| 21 |
| Italy, delegation as an expression of our esteem and with best |
| 22 |
| wishes for the future of this sister city relationship.
