| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, Pastor Eugene Roberson is celebrating his twelfth |
| 3 |
| anniversary as pastor of First Corinthian Missionary Baptist |
| 4 |
| Church; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, A native of Tutwiler, Mississippi, he entered into |
| 6 |
| the ministry in 1979; he was later elevated to Deacon, |
| 7 |
| Assistant to the late Pastor Peter Goadeaux, Jr., and was |
| 8 |
| ultimately named Shepherd of First Corinthian Missionary |
| 9 |
| Baptist Church in May of 1994; since that time, the church has |
| 10 |
| experienced tremendous growth, both in numbers and |
| 11 |
| spirituality; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Under his leadership, there have been several |
| 13 |
| notable accomplishments at First Corinthian, including the |
| 14 |
| installation of an elevator to assist those with disabilities, |
| 15 |
| the installation of a sound system, the purchase of church |
| 16 |
| vans, and the completion of a $2 million expansion project; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Pastor Roberson is a leader, preacher, teacher, |
| 18 |
| mentor, and advisor; his rapport with the young people and |
| 19 |
| African-American males created a new generation of members; |
| 20 |
| current membership is over 1,000 and continuing to rise; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, He has been the recipient of several awards and |
| 22 |
| honors, including being the first African American in Lake |
| 23 |
| County to open a session of Congress; he was named the Most |
| 24 |
| Influential African American of Lake County; he has been the |
| 25 |
| recipient of resolutions by the House of Representatives, the |
| 26 |
| College of Lake County Harambee Award of Excellence, the |
| 27 |
| National Association of University Women Award, the Angel Drill |
| 28 |
| Team Award, the Key to the City of North Chicago, the Key to |
| 29 |
| the City of Florence, Alabama, and a Community Achievement |
| 30 |
| Award; and
