| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to recognize the fiftieth |
| 4 |
| anniversary of the Chicago branch of the Church of Moral |
| 5 |
| Counsel of Puerto Rico, Inc.; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The Church of Moral Counsel of Puerto Rico, Inc., |
| 7 |
| is a non-profit institution that was founded on March 7, 1927, |
| 8 |
| and is engaged in the teaching of Christian morals, civism, and |
| 9 |
| good behavior to both young people and adults; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Since July of 1969, the Church of Moral Counsel of |
| 11 |
| Puerto Rico has held an annual Children Festival, a day |
| 12 |
| dedicated to uniting all those involved in the church's |
| 13 |
| branches; the purpose is to promote closer ties between the |
| 14 |
| members through sport, social, and cultural activities; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, This year, as the Chicago branch of the Church of |
| 16 |
| Moral Counsel celebrates its fiftieth anniversary, the |
| 17 |
| Children Festival will be held in Chicago; children from each |
| 18 |
| of the branches of the Church will attend and will be given the |
| 19 |
| opportunity to demonstrate publicly the discipline they have |
| 20 |
| acquired; all of the events associated with this year's |
| 21 |
| festival are of social, cultural, and civic value; children |
| 22 |
| visiting from Puerto Rico will be able to learn more about |
| 23 |
| American culture and the richness and diversity of Chicago; and
|
| 24 |
| WHEREAS, For 50 years, the Chicago branch of the Church for |
| 25 |
| Moral Counsel has existed with the not-for-profit purpose of |
| 26 |
| teaching children and youth civism, good manners, and Christian |
| 27 |
| morals; its ultimate purpose has been to help young people |
| 28 |
| develop discipline, respect, and good manners; therefore, be it
|
