| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to be able to recognize and
honor |
| 4 |
| a person who, through his quick response to an emergency |
| 5 |
| situation, was
successful in saving the life of another; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that on Saturday, |
| 7 |
| August 12, 2006, Central City Police Officer Matthew B. Dukes |
| 8 |
| was northbound on State Route 51, approximately two miles north |
| 9 |
| of I-64, when he came upon a van on fire; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Officer Dukes found a physically impaired person |
| 11 |
| trapped inside the burning vehicle; the officer extricated the |
| 12 |
| occupant of the van and carried him to safety; when the fire |
| 13 |
| truck arrived, Officer Dukes helped to extinguish the fire; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, The occupant of the van was transported to the |
| 15 |
| hospital and survived because of the quick actions of Officer |
| 16 |
| Dukes; therefore, be it
|
| 17 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 18 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 19 |
| we applaud and commend Officer
Matthew B. Dukes for his quick |
| 20 |
| and heroic action in saving the life of
another; and be it |
| 21 |
| further
|

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 23 |
| presented to him as an
expression of our respect and esteem.
