| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The notable gumshoe in yellow from the pages of |
| 3 |
| the funny papers, Dick Tracy, is celebrating his 75th |
| 4 |
| anniversary on October 4, 2006; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Dick Tracy was created by Chester Gould, a |
| 6 |
| Woodstock, Illinois, native, and is currently penned by Dick |
| 7 |
| Locher, a Naperville, Illinois, native, in the comic strip |
| 8 |
| "Dick Tracy", which takes place in the city by the lake; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, In honor of this anniversary, Dick Tracy will be |
| 10 |
| recognized nationally in comic strips, including "Brenda |
| 11 |
| Starr", "Gil Thorp", "Gasoline Alley", "Mutts", "Blondie", and |
| 12 |
| many others; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, It is fitting that we should honor a comic strip |
| 14 |
| with the longevity and notoriety of "Dick Tracy"; therefore, be |
| 15 |
| it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 17 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 18 |
| in honor of the 75th anniversary of Dick Tracy, an American |
| 19 |
| icon, we recognize October 4, 2006, as "Dick Tracy Day" in the |
| 20 |
| State of Illinois; and be it further
|
| 21 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 22 |
| presented to Dick Locher and to Mrs. Jean Gould O'Connell as an |
| 23 |
| expression of our esteem and in recognition of this milestone |
| 24 |
| anniversary.
