HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, Larry and Lillian Goodman of Highland Park will be 
3
honored by the Jewish National Fund and the American Friends of 
4
the Be'er-Sheva Foundation for their lifetime contributions to 
5
the State of Israel at the Negev Dinner on Wednesday, September 
6
20, 2006; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, Larry and Lillian's recognition at the Negev 
8
Dinner will kick off a yearlong fundraising and awareness 
9
campaign on the importance of developing the Negev Desert for 
10
Israel's long-term stability; and
 
11
    WHEREAS, The Goodmans have always been dedicated to the 
12
State of Israel and the Jewish community; Larry serves as 
13
National Chairman of the American Friends of the Be'er-Sheva 
14
Foundation, a group that he and Lillian founded,  and is on the 
15
board of governors of Ben Gurion University; he is also 
16
Chairman of the Midwest Region of Israel Bonds, and a member of 
17
the Joint Distribution Committee, Chicago Federation, and the 
18
Development Corporation for the State of Israel; he is a past 
19
chairman and member of the America-Israel Chamber of Commerce; 
20
and

 
21
    WHEREAS, Lillian has been involved in the Israel Bond 
22
Campaign for the last forty years, chairing the Golden Harvest 
23
Dinner and the Ambassador's Ball; and

 
24
    WHEREAS, Larry and Lillian have worked tirelessly to 
25
enhance the quality of life of Be'er-Sheva residents; through 
26
the Goodman Family Foundation they have helped fund The 
27
Administratin Building for Engineering Scicences at Ben-Gurion 
28
University, The Bat Dor Dance School of Be'er-Sheva, The Child 
29
and Family Center of Be'er-Sheva, The Llan Ramon Play Park of 
30
Be'er-Sheva, The IDF Excercise Room at Hatzerim Air Base, The 
31
Be'er-Sheva University Train Station, and the Goodman Theatre

and Acting School; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3
NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
4
we congratulate Larry and Lillian Goodman on being honored at 
5
the Negev Dinner and commend them for their tireless work on 
6
behalf of residents of Be'er-Sheva; and be it further

 
7
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution presented 
8
to Larry and Lillian Goodman as an expression of our respect 
9
and
esteem.
