| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, Highland High School history teacher Barb Kay of |
| 3 |
| Highland, Illinois, recently received an honor for being a |
| 4 |
| great teacher; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Barb was one of only 35 teachers nationwide to |
| 6 |
| receive a 2006 Yale Teaching Award; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Brittany Leathers, 2005 valedictorian of Highland |
| 8 |
| High School, nominated her former teacher for the award; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, In addition to teaching history, Barb Kay also |
| 10 |
| teaches an elective class on the lives of 12 famous women in |
| 11 |
| history; topics include Pocahontas, Marie Antoinette, Anne |
| 12 |
| Hutchison, and Catherine the Great; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Barb Kay has taught for 27 years, 22 in Highland; |
| 14 |
| and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Barb Kay has a bachelor's degree from Northeast |
| 16 |
| Missouri State University (now Truman State University) and a |
| 17 |
| master's degree from Webster University, both in history |
| 18 |
| education; she is also certified by the National Board for |
| 19 |
| Professional Standards; therefore, be it
|
| 20 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 21 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 22 |
| we congratulate Barb Kay on receiving this prestigious award |
| 23 |
| and wish her continued success in teaching young people; and be |
| 24 |
| it further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |

| presented to Barb Kay.
