| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the lives of |
| 4 |
| citizens of the State of Illinois; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Mary Faith Thomas has retired as Director of |
| 6 |
| the Shorewood-Troy Public Library as of October 31, 2006; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Thomas has held the position of Director of |
| 8 |
| the library since November of 1989; she was instrumental in the |
| 9 |
| renovation of the library; in addition to her work at the |
| 10 |
| public library, she also works part-time at the Waubonsee |
| 11 |
| Community College library; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Before working at the Shorewood-Troy Public |
| 13 |
| Library, Mrs. Thomas worked 17 years as Director of the |
| 14 |
| Yorkville Public Library in Yorkville, Illinois; she also |
| 15 |
| worked as an elementary school teacher, the principal of the |
| 16 |
| Methodist Primary school in Karachi, Pakistan, and as a |
| 17 |
| professional girl scout; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, She obtained her undergraduate degree from |
| 19 |
| Rockford College and her Masters in Library Science from |
| 20 |
| Northern Illinois University; she was a member of the Shorewood |
| 21 |
| Area Chamber of Commerce and the Shorewood Kiwanis; she is also |
| 22 |
| a volunteer usher at the Paramount Theater in Aurora and an |
| 23 |
| active member of the Methodist Church in Sheridan, Illinois; |
| 24 |
| and
|
| 25 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Thomas is the proud mother of Edward and |
| 26 |
| Daniel; she is the loving grandmother of four grandchildren; |
| 27 |
| she also finds time to play steel drums and to craft bead |
| 28 |
| jewelry; and |
| 29 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Thomas is often seen around the community, |
