| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to honor citizens of the State of |
| 4 |
| Illinois; and |
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Commissioner Carl R. Hansen will be leaving the |
| 6 |
| Board of Commissioners of Cook County in December 2006, after |
| 7 |
| representing the Northwest suburban area for over thirty-two |
| 8 |
| years; and |
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Commissioner Carl R. Hansen has faithfully served |
| 10 |
| the County of Cook during his tenure, working tirelessly |
| 11 |
| towards good government; and |
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Commissioner Carl R. Hansen grew up in Chicago's |
| 13 |
| Humboldt Park neighborhood during the Depression, and in 1944 |
| 14 |
| he joined the United States Army, where he rose to the status |
| 15 |
| of 2nd Lieutenant; and |
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Commissioner Carl R. Hansen worked under General |
| 17 |
| Dwight Eisenhower, and was stationed in Germany where he served |
| 18 |
| as Summary Court Judge for the U.S. Military Government, which |
| 19 |
| is where he met his wife, Christl; and |
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Upon his return to Chicago with his bride in 1952, |
| 21 |
| Commissioner Carl R. Hansen earned his MBA at the University of |
| 22 |
| Chicago and started his own business; and |
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, In 1970, Commissioner Carl R. Hansen's career on |
| 24 |
| the Board of Commissioners began when he was appointed to fill |
| 25 |
| a vacancy created when a suburban representative died, and he |
| 26 |
| was elected to the Board in 1974, and was re-elected for seven |
| 27 |
| subsequent terms in office; and |
| 28 |
| WHEREAS, During his time on the Board of Commissioners, |
