| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 189 on page 7, by |

| inserting between lines 10 and 11, the following:

| "Section 20. The Local Governmental and Governmental |

| Employees Tort
Immunity Act is amended by adding Section 4-108 |

| as follows:

| (745 ILCS 10/4-108 new) |
| 8 |
| Sec. 4-108. A local public entity shall not be liable for |
| 9 |
| any injury resulting from the use of a firearm by any qualified |
| 10 |
| retired law enforcement officer, as defined in the federal Law |
| 11 |
| Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004, carrying a firearm |
| 12 |
| pursuant to that Act.".
