Amends the Election Code. Requires election authorities to accept the pre-registration of 16 and 17-year-old residents of the election jurisdiction who, but for age, are otherwise qualified to vote.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning elections.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding Sections 4-105, 5-105, and 6-105 as follows:

(10 ILCS 5/4-105 new)

Sec. 4-105. Voter pre-registration. Notwithstanding any other provisions of this Code to the contrary, each election authority shall accept the pre-registration of any 16-year-old or 17-year-old resident of the election jurisdiction who is, but for age, otherwise qualified to vote. Each election authority shall by rule provide for the implementation of this Section.
