| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 245 by replacing |

| everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| "Section 5. The Good Samaritan Act is amended by adding |
| 5 |
| Section 72 as follows:

| (745 ILCS 49/72 new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 72. Professional engineers, architects, land |
| 8 |
| surveyors, and structural engineers; exemption from civil |
| 9 |
| liability for professional services in response to an |
| 10 |
| emergency, natural disasters or catastrophic events. Any |
| 11 |
| professional engineer, architect, land surveyor, or structural |
| 12 |
| engineer who in good faith, without fee, provides professional |
| 13 |
| services in response to an emergency, natural disaster or other |
| 14 |
| catastrophic event shall not be liable for civil damages as a |
| 15 |
| result of his or her acts or omissions in providing the |
| 16 |
| professional services, except for willful and wanton |
| 17 |
| misconduct. This immunity applies to services that are provided |
| 18 |
| without fee during or within 60 days following the end of an |
| 19 |
| emergency, disaster, or catastrophic event.".
