| AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 409

| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 409 as follows:

| on page 2, line 12, after "school", by inserting "or a |
| 4 |
| non-profit or for-profit child care center"; and
|
| 5 |
| on page 3, immediately below line 30, by inserting the |
| 6 |
| following: |
| 7 |
| "7. Beginning with the 2006-2007 school year, any child who |
| 8 |
| has not reached the age of 6 years by September 1 and whose |
| 9 |
| parent or guardian notifies the school board that he or she |
| 10 |
| does not wish the child to attend school until the following |
| 11 |
| school year because the child, in the opinion of the parent or |
| 12 |
| guardian, is not mentally, physically, or emotionally prepared |
| 13 |
| to attend school. In such cases, the child's attendance may be |
| 14 |
| delayed for one school year."; and
|
| 15 |
| on page 4, line 14, by replacing "or 6" with "6, or 7".
