| AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1269

| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1269 by replacing |

| everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| "Section 5. The Employee Blood Donation Leave Act is |
| 5 |
| amended by changing Section 10 as follows: |
| 6 |
| (820 ILCS 149/10)
|
| 7 |
| Sec. 10. Paid leave for blood donation; administration. |
| 8 |
| (a) On request, a participating employee subject to this |
| 9 |
| Act may be
entitled to blood donation leave with pay. |
| 10 |
| (b) An employee may use
up to one hour, or more if |
| 11 |
| authorized by the employer or a collective bargaining |
| 12 |
| agreement, to donate blood every 56 days in accordance with |
| 13 |
| appropriate medical standards
established by the American Red |
| 14 |
| Cross, America's Blood Centers, the American Association of |
| 15 |
| Blood Banks, or other nationally recognized standards. |
| 16 |
| (c) A participating employee may use the leave authorized |
| 17 |
| in
subsection (b) of this Section only after obtaining approval
|
| 18 |
| from the employer.
|
| 19 |
| (d) The Department must adopt rules governing blood |
| 20 |
| donation leave,
including rules that (i) establish conditions |
| 21 |
| and procedures for requesting
and approving leave and (ii) |
| 22 |
| require medical documentation of the proposed
blood donation |
| 23 |
| before leave is approved by the employer.
