| SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, During the 93rd General Assembly, the Illinois |
| 3 |
| Commission on the 50th Anniversary of Brown v. Board of |
| 4 |
| Education was established pursuant to Senate Joint Resolution |
| 5 |
| 40 to identify resources and develop programs to foster in all |
| 6 |
| the people of Illinois a sense of personal commitment to |
| 7 |
| democracy; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Further work is needed on these initiatives; |
| 9 |
| therefore, be it
|
| 10 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
| 11 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES |
| 12 |
| CONCURRING HEREIN, that the Illinois Commission on the 50th |
| 13 |
| Anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education, established |
| 14 |
| pursuant to Senate Joint Resolution 40 of the 93rd General |
| 15 |
| Assembly, is reauthorized; and be it further
|
| 16 |
| RESOLVED, That the Illinois Commission on the 50th |
| 17 |
| Anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education shall submit to the |
| 18 |
| General Assembly and the Governor its report on or before |
| 19 |
| December 30, 2005 instead of June 30, 2005, and that the |
| 20 |
| Commission shall be dissolved after the filing of this report; |
| 21 |
| and be it further
|
| 22 |
| RESOLVED, That with this reporting extension, the Illinois |
| 23 |
| Commission on the 50th Anniversary of Brown v. Board of |
| 24 |
| Education shall continue to operate pursuant to its enabling |
| 25 |
| resolution.
