| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of John Joseph Carlson of |
| 4 |
| Princeton on February 15, 2005; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born November 19, 1931 in Manlius to Gus |
| 6 |
| August and Laura Emma (Hulbert) Carlson; he married Marlene |
| 7 |
| Roggy on October 3, 1959 in Princeton; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Carlson was raised and educated in Tiskilwa; |
| 9 |
| he worked for Erickson Greenhouse prior to enlisting in the |
| 10 |
| United States Army in October 1950; he was stationed at Camp |
| 11 |
| Cook, California, and was sent overseas to Korea in 1952 to |
| 12 |
| serve in the Korean Conflict; he was stationed in Korea at the |
| 13 |
| 38th Parallel where he was wounded and received the Purple |
| 14 |
| Heart; he returned to Japan until he was sent back to Fort |
| 15 |
| Louis, Washington, and was discharged in 1953; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, He worked at Champion Pneumatic and Harper-Wyman |
| 17 |
| for many years; he was a janitor for the Manlius School |
| 18 |
| District from 1976 to 1992 until he retired and moved back to |
| 19 |
| Princeton; after his retirement, he worked part-time at Shell |
| 20 |
| Express Lane; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his |
| 22 |
| brothers, Donald, David, Eddie, and Cecil Carlson; and his |
| 23 |
| sisters, Janet Carlson, Jeanet Carlson, and Bertha Carlson |
| 24 |
| Evelhawk; and
|
| 25 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of John Joseph Carlson is felt by all |
| 26 |
| who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Marlene; his son, |
| 27 |
| Scott Joseph (Tammy) Carlson; his sisters, Betty Carlson, Helen |
| 28 |
| Carlson, and Gladys Trussler; his grandchildren, Allan, Aaron, |
| 29 |
| Keegan, and Kaleen; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, |
| 30 |
