| SENATE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of David Livingston, age 69, |
| 4 |
| of Decatur on March 9, 2005; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Livingston was retired from Archer Daniels |
| 6 |
| Midland Co., where he served as an equal employment opportunity |
| 7 |
| officer; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, He had most recently been a Democratic member of |
| 9 |
| the Macon County Board from District 1, a position to which he |
| 10 |
| won re-election in November; he had been president of the |
| 11 |
| Illinois Conference of the National Association for the |
| 12 |
| Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) from 1989 to 1999 and was |
| 13 |
| also a past president of the Decatur branch;
he was dedicated |
| 14 |
| to the work of the NAACP and during his time as president of |
| 15 |
| the state conference, he was supportive of fair housing |
| 16 |
| studies; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, He will be remembered as someone who made a |
| 18 |
| difference in the community; he was a quiet leader and |
| 19 |
| plain-spoken man devoted to the civil rights movement, a |
| 20 |
| remarkable guy who had a history much, much deeper than his |
| 21 |
| service on the county board; he and his family had deep roots |
| 22 |
| in the civil rights movement;
and
|
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, He was a good family man and a great father; he |
| 24 |
| took pride in his family; and
|
| 25 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of David Livingston is felt by all who |
| 26 |
| knew and loved him, especially his wife, Donna, and his two |
| 27 |
| sons, Malcolm and David; therefore, be it
|
| 28 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
