| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Gladys L. Baker of |
4 |
| Equality on May 20, 2005; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Baker was born January 18, 1908, in |
6 |
| Cookville, Texas, to Jesse Nalan and Ida Mae (Bethurum) Lilly; |
7 |
| and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, On July 26, 1927, she married John Garrison "Pete" |
9 |
| Baker in Cookville; and
|
10 |
| WHEREAS, She was a beautician in Equality for many years; |
11 |
| she later worked at Manteno Mental Health Center until she |
12 |
| retired in 1978; her hobbies included needle work, quilting, |
13 |
| and gardening; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents; her |
15 |
| husband; her daughter, Olive May Baker; her sons, Calvin |
16 |
| Darrell, Charles Harvey, and Jerry Lynn Baker; her sisters, |
17 |
| Wilma Talley, Lorena Mae Taylor, and Johnnie Lee Blackmore; and |
18 |
| her brothers, Audrey, Emmitt, and Earl Taylor; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Gladys L. Baker is felt by all who |
20 |
| knew and loved her, especially her daughter, Marjorie (Eugene) |
21 |
| Naas; her son, Gordon (Shirley) Baker; her sister, Vera |
22 |
| Lunsford; and her 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, |
23 |
| and 8 great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
25 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
26 |
| Gladys L. Baker and extend our sincerest condolences to her |
27 |
| family, friends, and community; and be it further
|
