| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| learned with regret of the death of James M. "Strawberry" |
| 4 |
| Nelson of Anna on Thursday, June 9, 2005; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on November 4, 1925, in Balcomb to |
| 6 |
| Monroe and Susie Bridges Nelson; he first married Mary A. |
| 7 |
| Anderson in 1945 in Union County; she preceded him in death on |
| 8 |
| July 17, 2000; he later married Cora E. Cross in 2001 in Union |
| 9 |
| County; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Nelson worked as a construction foreman for |
| 11 |
| S.J. Grovers; he was a veteran of World War II and was a member |
| 12 |
| of Anna Masonic Lodge, Big Creek Baptist Church, and attended |
| 13 |
| Landmark Pentecostal Church; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, His passing has been deeply felt by many, |
| 15 |
| especially his wife, Cora; his daughters and son-in-law, Rita |
| 16 |
| and Mickey Hindman and Linda Brimm; his six grandchildren; his |
| 17 |
| nine great-grandchildren; and his niece and nephew; he was |
| 18 |
| preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and his |
| 19 |
| sister, Doris Sadler; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
| 21 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 22 |
| James M. "Strawberry" Nelson, and we extend our deepest |
| 23 |
| sympathy to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
| 24 |
| him; and be it further
|
| 25 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 26 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our sincerest |
| 27 |
| condolences.
