| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of William Howard Davis of |
| 4 |
| McClure on July 29, 2005; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Davis was born January 23, 1916, in Cape |
| 6 |
| Girardeau, to Jeff and Nora Seabaugh Davis; he married Gladys |
| 7 |
| Davis on January 1, 1940, in St. Louis; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, He was a self-employed farmer for more than 64 |
| 9 |
| years, farming west of Cape Girardeau and in Chaffee, Missouri; |
| 10 |
| he moved north of McClure in 1948, and was still farming with |
| 11 |
| his sons and grandsons at Davis Farms on Illinois 3; he raised |
| 12 |
| cattle and row crops; he served as commissioner on the Drainage |
| 13 |
| and Levee Committee for 20 years, and was a member of Grace |
| 14 |
| United Methodist Church; he had a place at Bennett Springs, |
| 15 |
| Missouri, for trout fishing for nine years; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of William Davis is felt by all who |
| 17 |
| knew and loved him, especially his wife, Gladys; his sons, Bill |
| 18 |
| and Linda Davis and Tom and Martha Davis; his brother, Wilmer |
| 19 |
| Davis; his grandsons, Marty Davis, Drew Davis, Matt Davis, and |
| 20 |
| Joe Davis; and his great-grandchildren, Tyler, Allyssa, and |
| 21 |
| Megan Davis; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
| 23 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 24 |
| William Davis and extend our sincerest condolences to his |
| 25 |
| family, friends, and community; and be it further
|
| 26 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 27 |
| presented to his family as an expression of our deepest |
| 28 |
| sympathy.
