| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| learned with sadness of the death of Barry Crown, recently of |
| 4 |
| Jupiter, Florida, on January 12, 2006; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, On October 17, 1930, Barry Crown was born into the |
| 6 |
| Herman Crown family in Evanston, where he spent his childhood |
| 7 |
| before he left for horizons across the country and across the |
| 8 |
| world; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The 1950s was a decade of achievement for Barry |
| 10 |
| Crown, he graduated from Yale University with degrees in |
| 11 |
| engineering and law, served as a United States Army officer in |
| 12 |
| the Korean War, and functioned as the Operational Director of |
| 13 |
| the Materials Service Corporation, the company founded by his |
| 14 |
| uncles; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, In 1970, Barry and Beverly married and began their |
| 16 |
| 35 years of marriage that were filled with love and the |
| 17 |
| activities that they so enjoyed together, operating Lifeguide a |
| 18 |
| popular Palm Beach fitness facility, traveling the world, |
| 19 |
| learning new sporting activities, and climbing Mt. Everest; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Barry Crown was an entrepreneur who founded |
| 21 |
| several companies including Burton Dixie and Henderson Camp |
| 22 |
| Products, which always produced quality goods; and
|
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, Barry Crown, as a philanthropist, made certain |
| 24 |
| that his efforts truly provided help and happiness to people in |
| 25 |
| need or provided strong support for the worthy causes in which |
| 26 |
| he believed; and
|
| 27 |
| WHEREAS, Barry Crown served on the board of the Peggy Adams |
| 28 |
| Animal Rescue League whose mission is to shelter homeless |
| 29 |
| animals, furnish them with medical services, find homes for |
