| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Gerald "Jerry" |
| 4 |
| Sinclair of Salem on January 28, 2006; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Sinclair was born September 17, 1932, in |
| 6 |
| Central City to Jesse A. and Thelma (Parmely) Sinclair; he |
| 7 |
| married Ellen Moore in 1950 in Odin; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, He was the former president of Salem National Bank |
| 9 |
| and was the Marion
County Democratic Chairman; he also was |
| 10 |
| former Illinois political director of the Paul Simon for |
| 11 |
| President Campaign and served as an administrative assistant of |
| 12 |
| Illinois operations to former U.S. Senator Paul Simon; his |
| 13 |
| relationship with Senator Simon began when they formed a young |
| 14 |
| Democrat organization that supported a successful dark horse |
| 15 |
| candidate for governor; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Sinclair was a member of the Illinois Housing |
| 17 |
| Authority and was on the board of directors of the Southern |
| 18 |
| Illinois Health Care Foundation; he held memberships in the |
| 19 |
| Salem Country Club, the Salem Moose Lodge, and the Salem Elks |
| 20 |
| Club; he was honored as a 50-year member of the Odin Masonic |
| 21 |
| Lodge, along with having served in many community positions and |
| 22 |
| activities throughout his professional career; and |
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, He is remembered as a man of boundless energy with |
| 24 |
| a love for politics and a willingness to help countless people; |
| 25 |
| he is credited with luring World Color Press and North American |
| 26 |
| Lighting to Salem, helping many local companies get started, |
| 27 |
| and developing one of the original student loan programs at the |
| 28 |
| former Salem National Bank that helped so many residents go to |
| 29 |
| college; and
|
| 30 |
| WHEREAS, Jerry's passing has been deeply felt by many, |
