| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| learned with regret of the death Miles Rex Brueckner of Alton |
| 4 |
| on February 14, 2006; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Born on May 8, 1929, in Nokomis, Miles Brueckner |
| 6 |
| was the son of Henry and Hilda (Miles) Brueckner; he married |
| 7 |
| Shirley "Sally" Betts on March 19, 1950; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, After his high school graduation, he served four |
| 9 |
| years with the U.S. Marine Corps, reaching the rank of staff |
| 10 |
| sergeant; he spent two years in the South Pacific during the |
| 11 |
| Korean War and worked for eight years at Duncan Foundry as a |
| 12 |
| lab technician and a caster, followed by 14 years in sales with |
| 13 |
| International Correspondence Schools; he developed and |
| 14 |
| directed the school's Industrial Training Division until |
| 15 |
| I.C.S. disbanded the field sales force; he then spent 19 years |
| 16 |
| with the Aid Association for Lutherans as a fraternal insurance |
| 17 |
| counselor and million dollar producer, retiring in 1991; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Brueckner owned and operated an electronic |
| 19 |
| medical claims filing and billing service for physicians; he |
| 20 |
| was a co-founder of Migratory Waterfowl Hunters Inc., the |
| 21 |
| largest public land duck hunting organization in Illinois; he |
| 22 |
| also co-founded the Illinois Federation for Outdoor Resources, |
| 23 |
| which represents more than 30,000 members in Illinois; he |
| 24 |
| served as the I.F.O.R. membership secretary and was a member of |
| 25 |
| the Illinois Conservation Congress executive committee; he was |
| 26 |
| an avid waterfowl hunter his entire adult life and was a life |
| 27 |
| member of the VFW Post 1308; he helped found and was a charter |
| 28 |
| member of the Faith Lutheran Church and School of Godfrey; as a |
| 29 |
| dedicated and faithful member, he was active on the church |
| 30 |
| council, having held many offices, including past president; |
| 31 |
| and
