| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express |

| their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Gerald |

| William Downey of Dongola, who passed away on February 5, 2006; |
| 5 |
| and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Downey was born on September 11, 1936, the son |
| 7 |
| of Thomas Frances and Genevieve Gertrude (Jewett) Downey; he |
| 8 |
| was married to Shirley Brown; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Gerald Downey served his country as a member of |
| 10 |
| the U.S. Air Force; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, He worked as a dispatcher and was a life member of |
| 12 |
| the NRA; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Downey was a Catholic; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Gerald Downey was preceded in death by his |
| 15 |
| parents, his brothers, Wilbert and Robert, and his sisters, |
| 16 |
| Mary, Patricia Ann, and Genevieve; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Gerald William Downey will be felt |
| 18 |
| by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Shirley; |
| 19 |
| his daughters and sons-in-law, Faith Louise and Luther Avery |
| 20 |
| Penley IV, Sheri Lee and Steven Lee Penley Sr., Tamara Saline |

| and Donald Gene Keen, Jacquelyn and Randall Robert Baldwin, and |

| Gwendelyn and Jerry Earl Fuller; his sons and daughters-in-law, |
