| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express |
| 3 |
| their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Rona |
| 4 |
| Suzanne Bostic, who passed away on February 10, 2006; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Rona Bostic was born on November 3, 1951 to the |
| 6 |
| late Alfred G. Bostic and Bernice Murphy Bostic; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, At 16 years old, she entered Northwestern |
| 8 |
| University, where she majored in radio, television, and film; |
| 9 |
| she fulfilled her life-long dream of a career in the media |
| 10 |
| industry; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, The award-winning producer entered the business |
| 12 |
| as a copywriter at Spiegel; she became a producer at the |
| 13 |
| Allstate Insurance Company, and then at Sears, where she filmed |
| 14 |
| commercials; she later joined the staff at United Airlines, |
| 15 |
| serving as senior staff representative in the In-Flight |
| 16 |
| Entertainment and On-Board Product Planning Divisions; through |
| 17 |
| her work at United Airlines, Ms. Bostic attended many |
| 18 |
| screenings and premiers and met many television and film |
| 19 |
| personalities; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Rona Bostic also volunteered for many film and |
| 21 |
| television organizations, most notably serving as president of |
| 22 |
| the board of the Blacklight Film Festival and as a producer |
| 23 |
| with the Chicago Access Corporation; and
|
| 24 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Bostic was known for her generous support of |
| 25 |
| the work of her friends and colleagues; and |
| 26 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Bostic was a world-class traveler, and she |
| 27 |
| loved being on the road; among the many countries she visited |
| 28 |
| were Africa, Australia, England, France, Mexico, Sweden, the |
| 29 |
| Netherlands, and the Canary Islands; she often traveled with |
