| SENATE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, CeaseFire Illinois is a non-profit agency |
| 3 |
| providing grass-roots intervention services in Illinois |
| 4 |
| communities at high risk for violence; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, CeaseFire works in collaboration with local law |
| 6 |
| enforcement and neighborhood coalitions to change attitudes |
| 7 |
| and behaviors about violence; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, CeaseFire currently serves 15 Chicago |
| 9 |
| communities; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Two young girls were recently murdered in the |
| 11 |
| Chicago community of Englewood; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Two-thirds of CeaseFire's funding reportedly |
| 13 |
| comes from the State of Illinois; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, According to news reports, CeaseFire operations |
| 15 |
| in the Englewood community are underfunded; therefore, be it
|
| 16 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL |
| 17 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the Auditor General is |
| 18 |
| directed to conduct a program audit of funding provided by or |
| 19 |
| through the State of Illinois to CeaseFire Illinois; and be it |
| 20 |
| further
|
| 21 |
| RESOLVED, That the audit include, but not be limited to, |
| 22 |
| the following determinations:
|
| 23 |
| (1) the total amount of funding provided by or through |
| 24 |
| State of Illinois
sources to CeaseFire in Fiscal Years |
| 25 |
| 2004, 2005, and 2006; |
| 26 |
| (2) the source of all funding provided to CeaseFire in |
| 27 |
| those fiscal years; |
| 28 |
| (3) the purposes for which that funding was provided, |
