| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| learned with great sadness of the death of Paul M. Haas of |
| 4 |
| Belleville on Tuesday, April 25, 2006; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Haas was born on May 20, 1918 in St. Clair |
| 6 |
| County; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Haas served St. Clair County for more than 40 |
| 8 |
| years in various capacities, including deputy sheriff and |
| 9 |
| assistant treasurer; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Haas was elected to multiple terms as county |
| 11 |
| treasurer in St. Clair County and served until his retirement |
| 12 |
| in 1994; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Along with his wife, Rita, Mr. Haas co-owned and |
| 14 |
| managed the Town House Motel in downtown Belleville for 20 |
| 15 |
| years; and |
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Haas was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps |
| 17 |
| veteran; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Haas was a member of St. Augustine of |
| 19 |
| Canterbury Parish and St. Peter's Cathedral Parish, where he |
| 20 |
| served as an usher for more than 20 years; and |
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, He was also a charter member of the Knights of |
| 22 |
| Columbus Belleville Council 1028, as well as the St. Clair |
| 23 |
| County Democratic Party, the Illinois Treasurers Association, |
| 24 |
| and the Catholic War Veterans Post 370; and |
| 25 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Haas was preceded in death by his parents, |
| 26 |
| Henry and Catherine, two sisters, Irene Mueller and Florence |
| 27 |
| Dahm, brothers-in-law, Albert Eros and Floyd Mueller, Oliver |
