| WHEREAS, Sister M. Theotima Plass, FSGM, of Alton, passed |
| 3 |
| away on November 1, 2006; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Born on December 27, 1925 in Heesterkante, |
| 5 |
| Germany, she was the daughter of the late Theodor and Anna |
| 6 |
| (Kruse) Plass; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, She professed her first vows on October 4, 1950, |
| 8 |
| and final vows on September 17, 1955; she celebrated her golden |
| 9 |
| jubilee in 1999; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Sister M. Theotima Plass came to the United States |
| 11 |
| in 1952; after working as a staff nurse in St. Anthony's |
| 12 |
| Hospital, she became the Director of Nursing in 1960; in 1963 |
| 13 |
| she obtained a Master's Degree in Hospital Administration and |
| 14 |
| was appointed Assistant Administrator at St. Anthony's |
| 15 |
| Hospital and Local Superior at St. Francis Convent, also |
| 16 |
| serving as Personnel Director; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, In addition to her responsibilities in the |
| 18 |
| hospital, she served for many years as the Director of the |
| 19 |
| Junior Professed Sisters and as Provincial Vicar of the |
| 20 |
| religious community; in 1969 she succeeded Mother M. Agatha as |
| 21 |
| Administrator of St. Anthony's Health Center and served in that |
| 22 |
| position until 1989; at that time she became the Chairman of |
| 23 |
| the Health Center Board and also the Director of Mission |
| 24 |
| Services, serving in that role until July 1, 2006.; and
|
| 25 |
| WHEREAS, Sister Plass is survived by 3 sisters, Anny Stahl, |
| 26 |
| Gesine Ossege, and Marie-Theres Reiners, as well as several |
| 27 |
| nieces, nephews, and other members of her extended family; |
| 28 |
| therefore, be it
