Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Uniform Disposition of Unclaimed Property Act. Provides that if a military decoration is delivered to the Treasurer as abandoned property, the Treasurer shall deliver the military decoration to the U.S. Department of Defense for proper disposition. Effective immediately.

House Amendment No. 1
Further amends the Uniform Disposition of Unclaimed Property Act. Provides that if medals awarded to U.S. military personnel are delivered to the Treasurer under this Act, the Treasurer shall not offer those medals for sale or at public auction. Provides that the only medals that may be delivered to or received by the Treasurer under this Act are those that were contents of a safe deposit box. Provides that medals shall only be returned to the owners of the safe deposit box containing the medals or the heirs of that owner. Further provides that the provisions added to this Section may be referred to as Operation Search and Restore.
