| AN ACT concerning elections.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding Section |
5 |
| 1-15 as follows: |

| (10 ILCS 5/1-15 new) |

| Sec. 1-15. Ineligibility of felon for public office. |
8 |
| (a) A person is not eligible for any public office who has |
9 |
| been convicted in any court located in the United States of any |
10 |
| felony relating to his or her duties in an elective government |
11 |
| office. |

| (b) As used in this Section, "public office" means an |
13 |
| office for which candidates are required to file statements of |
14 |
| economic interests under the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act.
