| AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 479

| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 479 by replacing |

| everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| "Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the |
| 5 |
| Appropriation for Military Scholarships Act.
|

| Section 5. Annual budget; recommendation. Beginning with |
| 7 |
| the Budget for fiscal year 2009, the Governor shall include a
|
| 8 |
| General Revenue Fund recommendation in the
annual Budget |
| 9 |
| sufficient to reimburse institutions of higher learning in this |
| 10 |
| State for not charging students tuition and fees
under the |
| 11 |
| Veteran Grant program, the Illinois National Guard Grant and |
| 12 |
| Naval Militia Grant program, and the MIA/POW Scholarship |
| 13 |
| program.

| 14 |
| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, |
| 15 |
| 2007.".
