Amends the Public Community College Act. Provides that public notice of the schedule of regular meetings of a board of trustees for the next calendar year, as set at the organizational meeting of the board of trustees, must be given at the beginning of that calendar year. Effective July 1, 2007.

| AN ACT concerning education.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Public Community College Act is amended by |
5 |
| changing Section 3-8 as follows:
|

| (110 ILCS 805/3-8) (from Ch. 122, par. 103-8)

| Sec. 3-8. Following each election and canvass, the new |
8 |
| board shall
hold its organizational meeting on or before the |
9 |
| 28th day after the election,
except that in 1999, 2001, and |
10 |
| 2003 (except District #522) the board shall
organize within 14 |
11 |
| days
after the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November |
12 |
| in each of those 3
years. In 2003 in District #522, the new |
13 |
| board shall hold its organizational
meeting on or before the |
14 |
| 14th day after the consolidated election.
If the election is |
15 |
| the initial election ordered by the regional superintendent,
|
16 |
| the organizational meeting shall be convened by the regional |
17 |
| superintendent,
who shall preside over the meeting until the |
18 |
| election for chairman, vice
chairman and secretary of board is |
19 |
| completed. At all other organizational
meetings, the chairman |
20 |
| of the board, or, in his or her absence, the president
of the |
21 |
| community college or acting chief executive officer of the |
22 |
| college shall
convene the new board, and conduct the election |

| for chairman, vice chairman and
