Amends the Funeral Directors and Embalmers Licensing Code. Provides for the temporary licensure of funeral directors and embalmers registered or licensed under the laws of any other state or territory of the United States in the event of any occurrence that results in a shortage of licensed funeral directors and embalmers in any part of Illinois. Effective immediately.

| AN ACT concerning regulation.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Funeral Directors and Embalmers Licensing |
5 |
| Code is amended by adding Section 10-43 as follows: |

| (225 ILCS 41/10-43 new) |

| Sec. 10-43. Temporary licensure in cases of shortage. In |
8 |
| the event of any occurrence that results in a shortage of |
9 |
| licensed funeral directors and embalmers in any part of this |
10 |
| State, the Secretary may issue temporary licenses to funeral |
11 |
| directors and embalmers registered or licensed under the laws |
12 |
| of any other state or territory of the United States. A |
13 |
| temporary licensee under this Section may practice in this |
14 |
| State for the duration of the shortage and in the geographic |
15 |
| area determined by the Secretary. Shortages may be created, |
16 |
| without limitation, by natural disasters, terrorists attacks, |
17 |
| war, and widespread disease or epidemic.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
19 |
| becoming law.
