Amends the Illinois Procurement Code. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, authorizes a State agency to make technology purchases from a vendor with a current contract with a unit of local government, school district, or community college for the provision of technology goods or services. Requires that the chief procurement officer determine in advance that the purchase is in the State's best interest.

| AN ACT concerning finance.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Illinois Procurement Code is amended by |
5 |
| adding Section 25-80 as follows: |
6 |
| (30 ILCS 500/25-80 new) |
7 |
| Sec. 25-80. Technology piggyback procurements. |
8 |
| Notwithstanding any provision of this Code or other law to the |
9 |
| contrary, a State agency may make technology purchases of any |
10 |
| amount, without any method of source selection otherwise |
11 |
| required by this Code, from a vendor with a current contract |
12 |
| with a unit of local government, a school district, or a |
13 |
| community college under the Public Community College Act for |
14 |
| the provision of technology goods or services. Purchases under |
15 |
| this Section may be made only after the appropriate chief |
16 |
| procurement officer determines in writing that the purchase is |
17 |
| in the best interest of the State. |
18 |
| "Unit of local government" is defined as provided in |
19 |
| Section 1 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution.
